Mr Porter x Bamford x Zenith
Between them, Zenith, Bamford Watch Department and MR PORTER have created a watch that is both familiar and yet altogether modern and new. As is his wont, George Bamford worked closely with Zenith providing his creative viewpoint that is a constant across all of Bamford’s projects. A watch that was entirely developed and realised in-house at Zenith, this project is very much a co-creation—not just a collaboration— as the timepiece bears the hallmarks of all three mantras.
Based primarily on the Zenith Heritage 146 model, the design is ‘embellished’ with subtle cues from other Zenith favourites, such as the tachymeter inspired by a 1971 El Primero, along with indicators alluding to a military background, namely a red second hand, aesthetic reminders of a vintage chronograph case and a centric sub-dial rings, that hark back to the old Zenith recorder tell-tales and motion detecting clock.
“This is a first for MR PORTER, working together with both Zenith and Bamford Watch Department, and we are thrilled with the result. Zenith’s approach to modern day watch-making, alongside George Bamford’s eye for contemporary customisation, has created a unique timepiece our customers and readers are sure to enjoy and appreciate.”
~Toby Bateman, Managing Director, MR PORTER
The inherent Bamford influence is perhaps most evident through the inclusion of the unique “Solar Blue” dial and the addition of a navy blue Alcantara strap, with white stitching to enhance the white dial markings.
What’s clear is that the collective expertise and influence from all three tastemakers has resulted in a watch that is not only timeless, but modestly outstanding.
