OPHIR by Blackbird
Launched in 2004 with a Seattle based store,is an award winning menswear brand – and they have always had a keen eye on Apothecary. From the early incarnations of their e-store, they hosted a curation of unconventional fragrance and grooming products alongside their American-made denim, and full apparel assortment. In recent times Blackbird have developed this section of their business to include the production of their own fragrance products, such as their popular and uniquely scented selection of .
A further progression sees Blackbird launch their latest fragrance entitled Ophir; a multilayered woody scent designed to challenge the notion of how a wood based fragrance should ‘behave’. Wood in fragrance is conventionally considered to be raw, unrefined, rugged, wild and unrestrained, but Ophir is more concerned about exposing wood’s inner beauty as an ingredient.
Ophir is a woody scent that aims to remove masculinity from the nature of wood, replacing traditional airs of arrogance, superiority and power with softness, comfort, and subtlety.
Ingredients: Sandalwood, Amyris, Siam Wood, Muhuhu, Vetiver, Rose Hip Seed, Cedarwood, Guaiacwood, Myrtle Leaf, Cypress Leaf, Rosewood Leaf, Frankincense, Saffron, Pistachio, Opopanax, Lavandin, Ambrette Seed, Tonka Bean, Bay, Rose, Hazelnut, Cubeb, Nutmeg
Perfumer Aaron Way, elevates the concept of wood from being something raw and utilitarian to something sensationally beautiful, multi-dimensional, and moving, striving to bring forth the art inherent to the material prior to its refinement.
