Passavant and Lee
Accessories have always needed to blend seamlessly into a wearers life while maintaining a visual point of difference. This is even more poignant in an engagement centric world where excessive logos are king. That said, there is so much to be said for brands that balance authentic product with genuine storytelling. Taking this note are New York based outfit Passavant and Lee.
With an emphasis on curating products with detail and purpose the brand operates in a world where craft is key and stylistic choices are made with purpose. The brand was founded by Jon Passavant and Benj Lee, who forged a friendship while becoming the faces of many esteemed fashion houses campaigns. American and British respectively, their vision was to create products that were the embodiment of an adventurous spirit and pioneering in both vision and design.
Centre to the making of each accessory is the combination of two key materials; leather and aircraft grade aluminum. These two materials both resemble industries of the founders’ native homes and offer solidarity yet poise in each leather good. While the two have been used simultaneously in the shape of timepieces, automobiles and aircrafts, while in fashion its use is less common. In turn this enables objects like laptop sleeves to maintain a functional arm while remaining aesthetically easy on the eye.
Taking the concept further though is the Scier Edition set of leather goods, which comprises of a backpack, totebag and weekend bag. The collection has signature traits of the brands design ethos as a well as the practical details synonymous with previous constructions – creating seamless objects in turn.
